Chipware Loosely Based on GURPS Cyberpunk
This article contains chipware (can be used with Interface plugs or a chiprack).
Presented for your approval, some variant chipware inspired by the chipware in GURPS Cyberpunk, with a dash of Ocelot’s Discount Cyber Shop thrown in for spice.
Zap Chips (Discount Chips, price varies)
A “zap” chip is an APTR or MRAM chip with a defect, usually containing one key error which causes failures during certain circumstances. Sometimes a chip with a known problem can be found at a discount (“It’s Drive +3, red-hot, but it’s got a little bug. Stay off the freeway and you’ll be fine.”). Zap chips are priced between 1/2 and 1/4 of normal chip costs. Disadvantages of a zap chip are up to the GM, but here are some suggestions: the chip fails to work in combat (“Some kind of adrenaline interference,” mutters the tech), every 1d10th skill check is automatically a fumble, the chip can never provide critical successes, the chip causes seizures on a roll of 1 on a d10 every time it is inserted, the chip causes other neuralware to fail, etc. Continue reading “Chipware Loosely Based on GURPS Cyberpunk”

Der Autor muss seit Erscheinen unter Polizeischutz leben. Es soll SEHR realistisch sein. Ich habs eben bestellt – eine Rezi folgt.
Yet Another Drug Creation System
This set of rule allows you to create new and interesting drugs to use in your cyberpunk 2020 game. Compare Ocelots System for another way to create drugs.
Author: Hound, with kind permission from The Blackhammer CyberPunk Project
Drug Manufacturing & Effects
Please remember that these rules were written with Grimm’s Cybertales in mind, which include quite alternate rules for CyberPsychosis using four sub-types of humanity loss. Any references to Egotism, Paranoia, Alienation and Obsession should be replaced with straight Humanity Loss (temp or permanent depending on what kind of effect) for those not playing with these rules.
Dosages, Overdoses & Drug Strength
When taking a drug, a person can increase the drugs effects by taking multiple doses, the second dose will increase the effects of the drug by 50%, further doses will have no further effect.
A drug’s strength indicates how much of a drug is required to cause an overdose; if a character ever takes enough doses of a drug x the drug’s strength to equal or exceed 30, then an overdose has occured. Roll d100 and add the drug’s strength to the roll, then consult the Overdose Table: Continue reading “Yet Another Drug Creation System for Cyberpunk 2020”

MODIFIED R. TALSORIAN CYBERPUNK
Version 3.3, last updated 7.17.02. A spanish translation can be found here.
by Gary Astleford
The following information details an alternate character creation process designed for use with Cyberpunk 2020. It incorporates new rules for buying skills, creating older characters, an advantage and disadvantage system, and a new way to figure out starting funds. Character roles are not used. This will allow responsible players more flexibility with character creation.
Any part of this system can be adapted for GMs and players who wish to keep using the regular CP2020 system roles. The elimination of roles is not an essential part of this system, although it is an important step, and the rest of this variation will assume that they are not in use. Feel free to use whichever parts you feel comfortable with.
This edition (version 3.3) has been updated slightly. This is reflected in a more standardized cost system for advantages and disadvantages, as well as several new advads and disads. Many of the old advantages and disadvantages have been reworked and/or clarified. Some of the lifepath details have been altered slightly, and I’ve made a few additions. Overall, things work just like they used to. There’s just a little bit more to work with. Continue reading “Ocelot's Alternate Character Generation System for Cyberpunk 2020”
While fiddling with the finetuning of the new cyberpunk2020.de page, I was wondering how blogging and other new ways to publish stuff would affect playing a Cyberpunk Media today.
Media was never a really popular choice in our games, because you were dependend on an publisher. You needed the space in a screamsheet or some time on the telly to tell your truth to the public . But it was usually rather hard to pass some dirty truth past the eyes of an editor-in-chief, especially if you wanted to go life nationwide.
But now there is blogging. During the G8-Summit german bloggers showed that they could transport news faster then classic media and correct errors the big networks made. This replaces newspapers. Podcasting replaces the radio. Now Indiskretion Ehrensache (a german blog) showed us that you can even do your own television show on the internet, without big money or an editor behind you.
So the Media has three ways to bring his message across: Continue reading “Redefining the Media Role in Cyberpunk 2020”

Night City Personalized
This is a collection of names and ideas to personalize your Night City and might not be compatible with the Cyberpunk 2020 Night City Sourcebook. On the other hand, if you need a new club to spring up or a random Datafortress, this might be helpful.
Leave the name of your favorite hangout / shop / hole in the ground in a comment, if you like. I would appreciate it! Continue reading “Night City Personalized – Cyberpunk 2020 Names 'n Places”
