The SONAR Scaning and Cartography System (SSCS)

The SONAR Scaning and Cartography System (SSCS)

The CyberPunk 2.0.2.0 DFW Node has a neat little piece of equipment you can find below. I would guess that it being briefcase sized is a bit huge. Think of it as a plug in for your PDA/’deck and it works out just fine with only 2.3 kg for a dedicated antenna. The antenna is connected over a wireless network.

New from Teletronics!
The SONAR Scaning and Cartography System (SSCS)
6500eb /8.3 kg

The SONAR Scaning and Cartography System (SSCS) provides you with priceless information and ads a new dimension to surveillence- literally! This briefcase sized scanner sends out its ultrahigh frequency sound waves and records their return, accurately mapping out a one-quarter mile radius area! No longer must you kick in a door and wonder what is behind it. You will know thanks to the experts at Teletronics.
This unit is self powered and comes with all the features you have come to expect from Teletronics. A three dimensional map is generated and stored in the onboard system. This can be viewed with the included monitor, or projected by any compatible holoprojector.
You may be asking how it can get better than this, but it does! Just set to SSCS where you want it and leave it over night. Thanks to its internal power supply it will run for a full twenty-four hours recording movement within its scanning range. Not only that, new technology has paved the path to more! By using input from cyperoptics or by manual input on the easy to use rendering panel, you can add color to the objects it records, making a full virtual construct.
If you can do without this, more power to you. But remember, privacy is a matter of the past. Get yours before you’re the only only left blind in the ‘hood.

Game terms: The SSCS stores information at a rate of 2 MU per hour. 20 MU are included onboard. An initial scan takes 1d10 minutes in a quiet area, 3d10 in noisey areas. The inital output is a “wire mesh” construction that can be rendered, taking an additional 1d6 minutes per minute of recording. Noise generators will negate the SSCS in the generator’s area of effect. The SSCS cannot be configured to eavesdrop. It does show the relative thickness and composition of objects- a solid metal door would be shown as a solid mass while a wooden door would show the air space between panels.

OCELOT’S DISCOUNT CYBER SHOP, v 1.0
Author: Gary Astleford, first posted to Mockery’s Cyberpunk 2020 Page

[This article deals with older/defect cyberware, which is on the other hand cheaper. Great for a gutterpunk / losers game or Characters short on money.]

Hey there, chombatta. Come on in, take a look around. I know, you’re used to the top-of-the-line, the creme de la creme, the chillest tech and the hottest cyb. That’s not what I deal in, though. That’s not my biz. I can give you what you want for as cheap as you want it, though it ain’t gonna run as good as the stuff you could get in that on-the-mall clinic. Then again, if you had the money for that place, you wouldn’t be here, would ya..?

ON DISCOUNT CYBERWARE

Cyberware’s expensive stuff, and if you want the Edge, you gotta be chipped in, wired up, and turned on. You think the world’s gonna stop just ’cause you can’t afford that orbital crystal cyberarm? I sell stuff made in third world nations by companies that no longer exist. Some of it’s military surplus. The rest of the stuff here got recalled a few years ago due to defects. Sure, none of the defects are TOO bad. Nothing you can’t live with. So what do you say? Continue reading “Discount Cyber Shop for Cyberpunk 2020”

Using CyberEvolution in CP2020

Using CyberEvolution in CP2020

Author: Dan Bailey
Author’s Note: This is a way to adapt the Carbon Plague (from CyberGeneration) for use in a normal CP2020 campaign. Just in case you don’t like the idea of a 13-year old edgerunner. In 2020, three AIs that had gone rogue, banded together to create Aitech Incorporated, the first corporation headed by AIs and not humans. Their goal was to create nanotech that would bring humanity to a higher level, and hopefully, in the process make them realize the potential of Artificial Intelligences, and thereby grant them the rights they felt they deserved. After nearly two years, they introduced their CyberEvolution line of nanotechnology, which is very difficult to find, and very costly.
To acquire a Major Evolution involves making contact with an Aitech representative, which is a Near Impossible task. To get a Minor Evolution is easier, requiring the Continue reading “Using CyberEvolution in CP2020”

The Gambler – A new Role for Cyberpunk 2020

The Gambler

Author: Karsten

(and yes, I gave myself the permission to publish this. If you want to publish it too, go ahead. I require you to keep my copyright notice intact, and would love get a mail from you to learn about your doings.)

The Gambler

I once saw a film with Robert Redford playing a professional gambler. The setting was Havanna, Cuba, just before Castro overthrew the Batista dictatorship. I don’t know the name of the film in english… Ford smuggled, played poker, fell in love, was engaged in combat – and he solved all the problems he faced in the way of a gambler. Bluffing, threatening, raising the ante till the others dropped the cards. I realised that no character class of the CP 2020 system mirrored that way of dealing with life. Even throu I am almost violently against adding new character classes to the system, I felt the need to create this one. Because its new (and features a new way of looking at problems). Solos shoot problems. Cops arrest them. Dealers deal with them. Techies build a device to overcome them. Gamblers gamble against them. Thats new, and requires a new character class. Lairs for Ocelots Cyberpunk 2020 Character Generation System

LAIRS

Author: unknown.

This article is an add-on to Ocelot’s Alternate Charater Generation System and offers you the additional advantage of a secure lair.

Everyone needs a good hiding place. Even edgerunners. This system is designed to work with Ocelots alternate character creation supplement. So you had better be using it, if you plan on using this in your campaign. The cost is calculated by taking the base cost security and then multiple it by the other factors. This is the base cost in SP for this particular lair. Multiple lairs can be purchased just like the first one, costing the same amount of SP as before. The minimum cost is 1 SP point. Panzerungstabelle aus dem englischen Regelwerk Cyberpunk 2020

Panzerungstabelle aus dem englischen Regelwerk Cyberpunk 2020

Author: Mike Pondsmith.

Bonus beträgt also 5.

Night City Map

Night City is the hometown of Cyberpunk. Most use it as a campaign-setting. Since the Night City Sourcebook is no longer available, most don’t have a map. But you need one – I can tell by the amount of people asking google for a “night city map” and then being send here.

RTG hasn’t allowed to republish the original map, so I can’t help you there. BUT on the web there is one map that shows greater Night City, which might help you. It can be found here. Another Map reminds me very closely of the city center, but might be just the one from the main sourcebook, which you probably already have.

But there are a lot of sites out there with other, less fictional cities, making them useable for a cyberpunk campaign. I’m going to list some and would ask you to add any other you know in the comments.

Or you play on Mars.

Ocelot's Gang Creation Chart

GANGS IN CYBERPUNK 2020

by Gary Astleford (ocelot@connectnet.com)

The article is a set of tables that allows you to create quickly some cool and individual gangs for the use in Cyberpunk 2020. Its tells you how big the gang is, what the focus, equipment and power of the gang is going to be.

You may roll the same gang type twice. This means that the gang in question is very narrow in its goals and its means of achieving them. This isn’t a bad thing at all, and it does nothing to make the gang more or less exciting, depending on how the GM interprets his results.

There is, however, a special case. If “Puppet Gang” is rolled, make a note of the result and roll on the chart twice more. The following two rolls indicate the Puppet Gang’s front – the type of gang people perceive them to be. If either of the two rolls result in “Puppet Gang” again, then it is common knowledge that the gang is, in fact, corporate owned and operated.

Note that not all gangs are evil, nasty, antisocial, and violent. Some are merely driven to such a course by outside influence and the pressure of the street. In addition, not all gangs are brought together because of poverty and lack of parental attentions. Imagine a gang made up of spoiled rich kids who douse vagrants with lighter fluid and set them on fire. Sound familiar? Continue reading “Ocelot's Gang Creation Chart”

Background

We have a big deal running, several billion Euros big – mayor redo of the telecommunication networks in Malaysia. Contenders are Digitel (USA), SMS (Germany/the country your players are from) and Arnot (France). SMS made the best offer to the Malaysians, we are only days till the contract will be signed. What is unknown to most, SMS made the deal because they knew exactly what the other companies were offering at a given time. To reach that goal, the SMS espionage office used freelance netrunners. The netrunner who penetrated the datafortress of Digitel is called Ikarus. In the past he hacked the passwords of their datafortess and sold them to Ariadne. Ariadne is a spy, controlled by Holzmacher, who directs SMS espionage agency. Continue reading “Ikarus – A Cyberpunk 2020 Adventure”
